Chris Monk Ballooning

Chris Monk has been flying Hot Air Balloons commercially for over 30 years, from piloting tiny one-person Cloudhoppers with no basket, to large passenger balloons capable of carrying up to 16 people at a time.

We launched our local passenger rides business in 2021, to share our passion for Somerset and the panoramic views from the peaceful calm of our balloon basket – from the Somerset Levels and Moors to the City of Wells, and the towns of Glastonbury and Cheddar.

​

Over the seasons, we've loved helping guests celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and even marriage proposals, whilst experiencing the amazing views from above.

We're now also offering flights from the Haynes Motor Museum in Sparkford, appropriately in the Haynes Hot Air Balloon.

​

Although every balloon flight is memorable, when not flying locally in Somerset Chris has flown in many corners of the World. A few that stand out include flying over the Great Wall of China, over the Strip in Las Vegas, above the 2,000 temples in Myanmar, and twice across the English Channel from England to France.

As an Instructor, Chris enjoys teaching newcomers the art of ballooning and is always looking forward to the next flight!
